Top players from the Seattle Symphony, Northwest Chamber Orchestra and other ensembles join up for this new CD featuring the Seattle Violin Virtuosi (founded in 1999) and its sister organization, the Seattle Chamber Orchestra (launched in 2002). Both are under the direction of founder/conductor Michael Miropolsky, who also has done several arrangements and a polished violin solo on the CD. The playing is spirited and elegant in this far-reaching collection of Elgar (the title track), Brahms, Bartók, Tchaikovsky, Piazzolla, Kreisler and such lesser-known composers as Tikhon Khrennikov, for many years the head of the Soviet Composers' Union.
